Description
This is my version of Lucifer. I first painted it with a violet skin and red hair... no need to tell you this looked awful.. And then, I decided to make it a grayscale. It looked nice but also looked unfinished. That's why I added some red, So it became a monochrome. But yet, I found the painting empty, unfinished. So I decided to make it like any devil should look like: Blood-Red skin and Black hair. At first, I wanted this devil to look different from the ones we often see, but what the hell, (This is the fist time I paint a man. I always paint women.. I'm quite satisfied with Myself. It looked a bit feminine, So I widened the jaw and make it look more evil, with a little grin.
The background was really a problem: It would never suit the character. I had first painted some red lightnings with white smoke over them. But It really clashed with everything else. So I painted a kind of "fire", more suitable.
The shoulders again suffered an emptiness issue, that's why there's a tattoo.
It took me 2 evenings to paint, I'm kinda fast these times around: 2 paintings in a week. I used photoshop cs and a MousE. (no wacom, as usual)
This is entierly made with a mouse, that is to say that I did not draw a handmade lineart, it's the first time.
The wallpaper version is the one I currently have on my desktop.
If you want to see the grayscale, monochrome and full version of it, they're in the links below. enjoy!

Pros:* Very good anatomy!
* Great expression Cons:* Try to stay away from the smudgetool!
* I agree with diane, it's a bit too much grey for my taste too * I think you should have a look at the top of the painting... even if the painting ends there, you need to create an illusion that there's something more beyond it. Right now it looks like you afraid to work out in the edges of the canvas. Dont be Overall opinion/feedback:The expression is the whole experience for me. Technically you get better and better, but your faces always show so much emotions. Very well done!
All I can say is - keep painting |

Pros:His hair is really good, there are visible lots of details there.
The hole body is nicely done, and I like these hears. Cons:Take care about those hearrings!! The one on the left needed ore care (shadowing and lightening, it looks just like it was taken out of a vector art!!)
The background is too smothie, you could have add more colours. Overall opinion/feedback:This iimage has a great impact! that's the first thing I saw in it. The conceit of it is nice too, nice theeme. Keep going!!

Thanx Daykan!!

I'm not fond with: the earrings, they need a little shine I think. With some details of his hair, and with the 666 hehe you could use other font more antique maybe.
Nice feeling in this job above all, keep it up

Diane: I'll fix these issues, I knew about the rings though, like decrepitude said. I'll change my signature's color and fix the hair. Thanks for thoses advices!
Decrepitude: I'll try to find another font to make the 666 tatoo.

Onto more positive things now (yes.......because too many critics tend to be depressing on overloads or discouraging, at least it's how I see it ) , the eyes, expression and volumes are really well rendered. You've succeeded to put the head forward in a way with that slight grayer tones on the bottom, and to give out a nice composition even if it is simple.

Gianna23: Very nice comment. It wasn't intended to look flirty but I'm glad it looks like that. It's fun how people find different meanings in art.
The Laboratory. Thank you, Don't think you're being too rough on me with your critics, you make me realise what I should take care of for my next paintings. And yes, I used the geometrical tool for the ring, Bit rings are perfect circle, I don'T see how I could do else. and you didn'T abuse the comment lenght: I like long comments!

Maybe the face is a little asymetrical, but it's nice!

I agree about the non-painterly feel.

The painting looks great - i like the play of light on the shoulder blades and the wayward hair is really menacing. Excellent work.
On a theological point, however, - I'll paraphrase from Stephen Fry's 'The Book Of General Ignorance' (for non-UKers Stephen Fry is celebrity knowledge personified
"What IsThe Number Of The Beast? answer: 616
For 2,000 years 666 has been the symbol of the dreaded anti-christ... The number is from Revelation, the last and strangest book of the Bible: 'Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man: and his number is Six hundred threescore and six"
But it's a wrong number. In 2005 a new translation of the earliest known copy of the Book of Revelation clearly shows it to be 616 not 666... The controversy has been around since the second century AD. A version of the Bible citing the Number of the Beast as 616 was castigated by St Iranaeus of Lyon as 'erroneous and spurious'...Friedrich Engles analysed the Bible in his book On Religion (1883). He too calculated the number as 616 not 666.
Revelation was the first book of the New Testament to be written and it is full of number puzzles. Engles argues that it is a political, anti-Roman tract, numerologically coded to disguise its message. The Number of the Beast refers to either Caligula or Nero, the hated oppressors...
If the new number is correct it will not amuse the Moscow Transport Department. In 1999 they picked a new number for the jinxed 666 bus route. It became route 616.

Traff: So the number of the beast is 616 now!? damn, I'll have to edit my artwork!
A translation mistake huh? well, I don't know what the purpose of the beast's number is. To call it? I'm not sure if it has a phone
Thanks for your comment!
